I'm cynical enough to question whether these MAGA congressmen are being truthful when they claim they didn't know what was in the "big, beautiful bill". Claiming they didn't know let's them have it both ways - they can stand before a CPAC crowd and crow that they proudly supported President Trump and when they get concerning questions (few and far between), they say "gee, I didn't know that or I would have voted different". It's a sad day when citizens have to wonder if the legislator is lazy or stupid...or too often these days, both. Ethics, expertise and courage are out of style.
It is time we begin to look seriously at potential congressional candidates. Are they learned enough? Are they grounded in the ability to study the bills before them? Are they working for the public interest, or to enrich themselves.
Thanks, Keel. The dumbing down, repeatedly manifest in Trump’s ubiquitous stupidity, reveals many appalling aspects. Numerous studies have found that Republicans as a group have significantly enlarged amygdalae compared to Democrats. This finding is consistent with Republicans’ limited abilities to think rather than respond with heightened anxiety, fear, even paranoia — the entire amoral effort to purge any and all immigrants (unless they are white, as now unfettered admission to the US is being pushed for white South Africans) makes absolutely NO logical sense! Attacking Harvard might find traction amongst MAGA nuts for “purging elitists,” but again Trump’s psychotic-level sadism far out-shines any clear thinking. His unreasoning tariff gyrations reveal a seemingly inherent expectation of being able to bully others into submission.
All this flooding the zone may work to confuse, distract, dominate those weak of mind and activated by excessive cortisol, but many, many more are pulling out of Trump’s intentional numbing and are ready to resist, protest, fight!!!
Do NOT ignore the madness, please! Yes, it is stupid. But Trump and his minions have power and PLANS to change the constitution, remove any oversight of AI developments, and otherwise to create a fascist state.
We MUST resist…now, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year!!!
Keel: Speaker Pelosi was recorded to have said "we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it". Maybe this is the insight into what really goes on in Congress.
For about your fourth article, your words have no value. You make judgement only on one side of the line of scrimmage.
For the second time, you reference The New York Times. This is not the 20th century. Today, a small percentage of the public gets their news/information from newspapers. Keel. can you say podcasts. These are smart people and they are more knowledgeable than you.

Sad, yes, and scary too.
That day cannot come soon enough.
I wish his “big, beautiful Bill” would bounce the SOB out of office before so many Americans are hurt or killed.

More true now than ever.
