Keel, thank you for sharing Al Gore’s patriotic speech! Sadly, his following remarks are no longer true….& there is only ONE person to blame. He gets 100% credit for “making America hate again”.

“That which unites us is greater than that which divides us. This is America, and we put country before party; we will stand together behind our new president.”

Only 25 years, when it seems an eternity ago in some ways, that we had leaders with such integrity and intelligence who would always travel the high road. Thank.you, Keel, for this reminder.

Well here I am commenting again on your Field Notes Keel, always inspirational! I had the privilege of being the Managing Director of Loews Vanderbuilt Hotel on Election Night 25 years ago and Home Base for Vice President Al Gore and Senator Lieberman. The Longest week of my life…….. To make a long story short, at approx. 3 AM the entire entourage was headed to the War Memorial to concede the election when an interesting discussion took place on the loading-dock of the hotel. Many in the entourage thought that he should not be Conceding the election at which point Al Gore made an impromptu speach with almost the exact verbiage he used on the 13th of December. It was impressive and remarkable. There were only about 50-75 people present on that terribly rainy night, when shortly thereafter they entered the motorcade.

Not to get in the weeds, but Tipper called me to retrieve her camera and I arrived at the War Memorial just in time to witness the call between Al Gore and George W., it was incredible. This was when Al Gore told George W., that he was no longer conceding…….. I remain impressed as to the Professionalism and Calmness Al Gore handled these situations, to this day.

The Orange Monster in the White House today couldn’t be a patch on Al Gore’s Shirt! (I’m being polite).

Tom, thanks for sharing those scenes. While you were at “home base” I was downtown, waiting for the victory speech that never came. It was a long cold night down there.

I loved Al Gore speech. Was so sad at the whole situation at that time. I'm behind on my reading and comments.

Wanted to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays. May God Bless you all. Please keep writing!
