The lack of concern, involvement and comment from Blackburn and Ogles is unfortunately not surprising. Who do they represent? Did they ever comment or propose solutions after the murders at Covenant? Vote, Vote, Vote them out, we deserve better!
Thanks, Tom. There must’ve been a memo that went out to Republican candidates, saying: “Don’t engage. Don’t give interviews. Keep your mouth shut and your butt scarce. And destroy this memo soon as you’ve read it.”
It’s Great You Didn’t get the memo! Like you do, speaking out with positive solutions is the only thing that will work, I believe, for the future of our Democracy. This Cult like adherence to this current MAGA thing is scary……..
I work next door to Covenant School, so this is really alarming news to me about the Russian propaganda. Sounds like Marsha Blackburn & Andy Ogles are once again trying to turn the election toward DonOLD with their illegal ways. They should follow the Beatles song & go "Back In The USSR".
DonOLD's friendship with Putin is obviously responsible.
Maybe I'm just not hearing or seeing local reporting on this but save for this column and the Times and Post, I'd be in the dark. Is our local media that fractured that it can't report on a major story? Or in the midst of MAGA country, are they just timid? I can imagine the comments from Blackburn and Ogles now and so can you. Russian hoax, no collusion, fake news...
Andy Ogles cell phone was taken when his office was raided recently. Ogles claims this was a big misunderstanding about a campaign disclosure oversight. I would love to know what evil may lurk on Ogles cell phone. I also think he could have a deeper connection to the Russian issue than we currently know.
It is truly a shame that Tennessee voters can do nothing about the embarrassing and treasonous state of your politics now. Ever since fraud-friendly voting machine election fraud installed Tre Hargett and Mark Goins as the overseers of your elections in 2008, the pace at which the GOP/RICO has established super majorities in both houses of the TNGA defies both history and common sense. Tennessee's elections remain captive to Hargett- and Goins-orchestrated election fraud today and likely will continue to be unless and until the Harris/Walz administration outlaws unverifiable voting systems nationwide. If you and your readers are interested in how this happened, Google "Martin Luther King Bernie Ellis YouTube" for my 2012 MLK Day keynote address before 600+ scientists at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a singular honor accorded me at the recommendation of the TN-NAACP.
These days, I live in New Mexico where we vote on verified, hand-marked paper ballots and, as a direct result, elect almost entirely NOT Republicans. New Mexico ranks first nationwide in election integrity while Tennessee ranks 50th, as well as dead last in voter registration and voter turnout. As frustrating as it is to say this, I don't blame your non-voters. Why bother playing in a rigged game.
Isn't it amazing the projects we find in Nashville now? We're known for a long time that Senator Blackburn has many, many interests. It will be interesting to see what happens now!
Keel, you still have investigative reporters in Nashville but most of TN doesn’t. You can’t pay reporters in most cities to investigate even when you have the receipts. We are losing our checks and balances that media has traditionally provided.
Friend, Jim Marshall, was a US congressman from Georgia where he interacted with Marsha Blackburn. Paraphrasing Jim’s sense of her, ‘she is one of the least intelligent & honorable individuals in the House.’ She has not improved as a senator.
If Tennessee might be taken seriously, gerrymandering must be repaired so that state politicians actually represent citizens. Such corrections will require legislation that adopts incorporating unbiased, non-partisan committees to establish voting districts, while also reducing partisan forces through alterations in how primary voting occurs. Arnold Schwarzenegger implemented such changes in California, resulting in candidates who are less polarized and therefore more focused on working for well being of citizens.
The problem, of course, is that those in power in Tennessee, now almost exclusively Republicans, would have to find moral integrity sufficient to do what is democratically beneficial, rather than self-serving.
The deplorable fiasco revealed by Republicans attempting to expel the “Tennessee Three” makes clear that the present super majority of Republicans serves no citizens. A vast majority of citizens want sensible gun controls.
Russians in Green Hills, Great Scott. There are no words. Are elections in the great state of Tennessee now all about money and whose pockets are filled?
People have got to care enough to show up and vote.
There was a time in Tennessee when the Republican Party was honorable. That time is gone. VOTE Blackburn and Ogles out!
Thanks, Pat. You and I both remember that time and those Republicans.

Thanks, Becky. It’s all about Trump and hanging onto your elected office.

Well said. Peter

Thanks, Saralee. I couldn’t agree more!
